Vegetable tanning is said to be the world's oldest leather-making tradition. Artisans spend four to six weeks perfecting each piece that they touch. Vegetable-tanned leather is considered higher quality and will last longer than synthetically treated leather. It takes at least 28 times longer to make.

Vegetable tanning leaves the hides in an organic state that lets them age like skin. Leather produced with vegetable tanning will garner a beautiful patina as it is worn or used. No two pieces will age the same.

Finished products are valued for their variations, which can add to the price. Artisans take pride in the natural markings and differences that prove the leather's authenticity.

Our vegetable tanned leather is sourced from renowned tannery Tempesti in Tuscany, Italy. Tempesti is specialized in the production of vegetable tanned leather and it is part of the "Genuine Italian Vegetable Tanned Leather" consortium.

All vegetable-tanned leather from Tuscany must meet a set of specific standards for the consortium to verify it as authentic. Tanneries must use all-natural, raw materials and ensure that no animal is killed for its skin. And in the end, the most important mission of vegetable tanneries in Tuscany is to keep a cultural craft alive.

L.W.A. Studio has a 14-day return policy: any unwanted items needs to be shipped within 14 days of receipt. After the product is returned you will be refunded. L.W.A. Studio will issue a full refund including the original shipping cost. The return shipping fee will not be refunded.

Orders outside of the EU are shipped on a DAP (delivered at place) service, you may be required to pay duties and taxes on your purchase when it arrives in the destination country.

Shipping and handling fees are non-refundable. Merchandise must be returned or exchanged within 14 days of delivery confirmation date. Returned merchandise must be in like new condition. All returns / exchanges should be insured to avoid damage or loss during transit. Your return will be processed as soon as it is received. Please allow 3 – 10 days for this to reflect in your account.
